Power & Lighting Facts
The Power & Lighting work group is comprised of:
- 1 foreman
- 13 full time electricians
- 2 or more employees working out of classification (EWOCS)
- 1 or more electrical apprentices
… and is responsible for the operations and maintenance of:
- the electrical systems of 14 parking structures and over
800 surface parking lot lights
- more than 50 parking structure emergency phones and an
additional 130 campus emergency phones
- over 5000 exterior building lights and more than 450 roadway lights
- more than 2,500 pedestrian pole lights (security poles) and over
65 miles of underground conduit for the pole lighting systems
… and also maintains and repairs the electrical system:
- for more than 142 outlying boilers
- and in over 7 miles of steam tunnels
