Network Services asks that we be informed of any computers that are relocated. Also, if any personnel moves are made where a person starts using a different computer or takes the computer when moving, we asked that we be informed as well. Our reasoning is with the increased security threats against computers in the last few months, we want to make sure we know exactly where all of our computers are located. In a rare case where a computer is compromised, we need to know where the computer is and who to contact in case the computer needs to be disconnected or have other emergency maintenance performed.
To make this process as easy as possible, we have created an Outlook form that can be filled out any time computer equipment or personnel using computer equipment changes physical locations. The form can be accessed in Outlook using the following steps:
The form has a separate tab (page) for computer equipment that is moving and one for a person who is moving. You only need to fill out information that is changing because of the computer or person moving and leave the rest of the fields blank. Although Network Services in general does not move equipment from place to place (Moving & Trucking can), we provide disconnect and reconnect service if you need it. Just indicate that on the form.
