This winter semester, the UM Recycling Program will be hosting the Second Annual Recycling Champions Building Competition, an intra-campus waste reduction and recycling competition! This competition will run in conjunction with RecycleMania from January 27th - April 5th, 2008. The Recycling Champions competition will pit participating buildings on the UM Ann Arbor Campus against one another. We will track participating buildings' recycling and trash each week. In addition to having the Recycling Rate Competition as we did last year, we will also be having the Most Improved Recycling Rate and Waste Reduction Competitions.
The Most Improved Recycling Rate Competition will compare the 2008 recycling rate over the course of the ten weeks to the 2007 recycling rate over the same time period.
The Waste Reduction Competition will compare the total waste (recycling and trash) in 2008 to the total waste produced in 2007.
The winning buildings in each category will be presented with coveted Recycling Champions awards at the April Facilities Users Network meeting.
Congratulations on completing the Recycling Champions 2008 Building Competition! All of the competing buildings did a great job! See how your building stacked up in the final rankings below. The competition may be over, but, remember, Choose to Reduce, There’s No Excuse!
