Northwood Community Apartments Recycling

University Housing and Waste Management Services provide curbside recycling opportunities for the 1482 households of Northwood Community Apartments located on North Campus. Between July 2003 and June 2004, Northwood Community Apartments residents recycled 219.39 tons of paper and 50.1 tons of mixed containers.

Click here for a printer-friendly version of the Northwood Community Apartments Recycling Guide.

Paper Recycling

Each apartment is provided with a recycling bin to put paper in. These bins are for use inside the apartment to collect and sort recyclable materials. Residents can recycle corrugated cardboard, paper bags, newspapers, magazines and catalogues, office paper, junk mail, paperboard and boxboard, shredded paper, telephone books, and paperback books.

What do I do with the paper recycling?

Take the contents of your recycling bins to the blue recycling carts and dumpsters located next to the trash dumpsters in all Northwood parking lots. Place paper in the dumpsters that are marked Paper Recycling . Be sure to flatten any cardboard boxes before placing them in the paper recycling dumpster.

Containers Recycling

Residents can also recycle mixed containers in Northwood. This includes glass bottles and jars, ceramics, milk cartons and juice boxes, #1 and #2 plastic containers with a screw-on/off lid (e.g. water bottles, peanut butter jars). Steel cans, aluminum, and metals. Please do not place any other plastics in the mixed recycling carts. Place recyclable containers in the blue cart marked Containers Recycling located by the dumpsters in each Northwood parking lot.

The dumpsters and carts are emptied once a week by Waste Management Services staff. See Materials Recycled to learn about what materials are collected from Northwood Community Apartments.
