What Do We Do?The Office of University Landscape Architecture provides landscape design and installation services for the UM campus. The Office of University Landscape Architecture can assist in landscape renovations, repairs or with new landscapes. We develop conceptual landscape plans, working drawings and provide project management during the installation. In partnership with the University Planners Office we can also assist in providing site furniture, bike racks, memorial trees, and paving renovations. Design and project management services are provided at a fee based on a percentage of the construction costs. There are no fees for consultations. The Office of University Landscape Architecture works closely with UM Forestry and Horticulture during the design process to assure that the best plants for the conditions are used. This partnership allows us to present a diverse palette of trees, shrubs, and flowers for the enjoyment of the University community and the City of Ann Arbor. The Office of University Landscape Architecture is also committed to sustainable landscape design. Recent sustainable efforts include eliminating mowing in perimeter areas of North Campus and removing invasive species from the North Campus wood lots. The Office of University Landscape Architecture together with the UM Grounds Department is dedicated to designing and maintaining a safe and attractive campus that will form tomorrow's campus memories for the students of today.
