Campus Tree Walks

The Office of University Landscape Architecture has developed tree walks that feature some of the unique and beautiful trees on the University of Michigan Campus. The tours are in PDF format and should be printed on 11"x17" paper but can also be printed on two 8.5"x11" pages. The brochure will have a map of the route along with a legend that identifies the trees. Each tree featured has a blue tag attached to it. The identification number on the tag corresponds to the identification number in the legend. Each walk takes about an hour to complete and features 15 to 20 trees in the area.

The walks are based on our horticultural maintenance zones. Tree walks are currently available for zones one, two, three, five, and six. A tree walk for zone four (the Medical Campus) will be added after the construction of the Cardiovascular Center is complete.

Brochure Printing Instructions (PC)
To print on 11" x 17" inch select “print” and then choose “All” in the print range menu and “Choose paper source by PDF page size” in the paper range menu. Fold the sheet in half with the unprinted side facing in and then fold in thirds.
To print on 8.5" x 11" inch scroll all the way to the top of the PDF, set the zoom at 50%, and select “print”. Choose “Current view” in the print range menu. Print this page and then scroll down to the bottom of the PDF. Repeat the process to print the second page. Put the pages together with the unprinted side facing in and then fold in thirds.

Brochure Printing Instructions (Mac)
To print on 11" x 17" inch paper, select "Page Setup" from the File menu and set Paper Size: 11x17, Orientation: portrait view, Scale: 100%, click OK. Select “Print” from the File menu, choose the “All” option, Page Scaling: Fit to Printer Margins and click Print. Fold the sheet in half with the unprinted side facing in and then fold in thirds.
To print on 8.5" x 11" inch paper, select "Page Setup" from the File menu, set Paper Size: US Letter, Orientation: landscape view, click OK. Size the window displaying the brochure to show only the top page, and select “Print” from the File menu. Choose "Current view", Page Scaling: "None" and click Print. Repeat the process (skip "Page Setup" and scroll the window to show the bottom page) to print the second page. Put the pages together with the unprinted side facing in and fold in thirds.
