Pest Management
The Pest Management Staff consists of five state-certified specialists: Pictured are Pest Management Specialists Billie, Terry, Jack, Joseph and Supervisor Bruce Donald.
Their responsibility is to develop and coordinate an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) system for the University. IPM techniques are used to reduce pest populations while minimizing pesticide impact on the environment. The pest management staff is currently teamed with the Michigan Department of Agriculture in several outreach programs such as; Community Pesticide Education Program, Community Action Against Asthma, and the Parents Together organization. In cooperation with the Department of Agriculture, the U of M staff provide IPM training, insect identification seminars, and treatment strategies for pest control companies and various institutions throughout the state of Michigan.
