Healthy Greetings!

Spring is here and it’s the perfect time of the year to improve your overall health and well-being!!

April 2008 is “National Cancer Awareness Month”

What are antioxidants?
Antioxidants are substances that may protect cells from the damage caused by unstable molecules known as free radicals. Free radical damage may lead to cancer.  Antioxidants interact with and stabilize free radicals and may prevent some of the damage free radicals otherwise might cause.1

How can I prevent free radical damage?
To help prevent free-radical formation, and the damage they can cause, avoid exposure to cigarette smoke, secondhand smoke and air pollution. Increase your intake of foods rich in antioxidants, especially organically grown vegetables and fruits. Antioxidants are also found in green tea and dark chocolate. Consider taking a daily antioxidant supplement as insurance against those times when you can't eat right.2
