[Custom Millwork and Cabinet Shop logo]

The Custom Millwork and Cabinet shop has been in its current location since the Hoover Steel Ball plant was purchased by the University. This shop has a mix of vintage, well maintained machines that function like new and modern cutting edge equipment that saves time and allows great precision with consistent results.

The shop crew, working with Plant Academy, created a Lean Team to incorporate Lean manufacturing principles. The result of that effort is a redesigned shop floor and processes to streamline workflow and fully utilize their resources.

Wikipedia definitions of terms for some of the shop equipment: chisel mortiser, chop/miter saw, CNC, moulder, planer, veneer.
