'99 PICNIC

A Big Success

Last August 4^th, Plant Operations and Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) held their third combined staff picnic. The day began with the traditional rain and clouds in the early morning, breaking into sunshine by noon. From all appearances, lots of folks and their families were enjoying themselves with a plethora of activities visiting with co-workers and their families, playing games with the kids, having fun with Colors the Clown and her menagerie, learning about the drug resistance awareness program (D.A.R.E. from the Washtenaw County sheriffs and their trained dogs), learning about fire safety on the City of Ann Arbor Fire Bus, watching Atticus Ray and his troupe of cloggers, and eating food lots of good food provided by West Texas BBQ Company. BJ the DJ added ambiance to the festivities by featuring select music from a wide range of styles.

Special thanks to members of the Picnic Committee who helped to plan and coordinate all of the events for the day. They are, Valerie Amo, Plant Director's Office, Mike Bodary, P&TS; Keith Flowers, U&MS; John Gleason, PBS; Sharon Guenther, U&MS; Jan Mammel, AEC; Fred Riecks, U&MS; Linda Sen, PBS; Fred Voss Jr., GWM; and Richard Williams, PBS.

Thanks also go to the many special folks who helped set up and take down equipment and tents, dispensed soft drinks and ice cream, played in the kids tent, collected trash, assisted with parking, chauffeured guests and hauled equipment.

Plant Operations and AEC are pleased to be able to host the annual event this August. We are looking for a new location since Elbel Field is not available this year.
