DECADE OF
DEDICATION HONORED

Plant Operations
pays tribute to
employees

On Thursday, November 4, 1999, Plant Operations held its 5th Annual Service Recognition Banquet to honor staff members who have completed ten years of service to the University. Friends, relatives, and co-workers of the distinguished guests gathered in the Michigan League Ballroom to share memories and to bask in the spotlight.
The invited speaker, Stephen W. Director, Robert J. Vlasic Dean of Engineering, noted that the University of Michigan, as a whole, is a better place for the hard work, dedication and quality of the people who keep the campus running. From the dedication of the landscaping and grounds crews to the consistent day-to-day transportation provided between Central and North Campuses to the commitment of Plant Operations' staff in providing professional, prompt maintenance and cleaning expertise, the College of Engineering is deeply appreciative of Plant Operations' efforts.
Director concluded his remarks by saying "No organization can function at its best without each member of the team understanding the common goal. The College of Engineering and Plant Operations both understand that what we do together makes a very big difference in the lives of our students - who are our reason for being here at the University. Most of the time it's the faculty who receive the praise for educating the next generation, but tonight is our chance to turn the spotlight on the behind-the-scenes champions."
Many well deserved thanks go to the people whose hard work made the evening possible: the planning team - Valerie Amo, Kristin Miller and Nathan Norman; and to the hosts: Jim Christenson, JB Bardouille, Pat Cunningham, Mike Gaubatz , Rich Robben and Rich Steiner.

From these photos, it's easy to see that celebrating with their families, as well as their work associates, heightens the pleasure and pride of being recognized for their service to the Plant Department.
